Effective: May 2026  ·  Version 1.0

Skeyne was built on a single premise: your story belongs to you. This policy explains exactly what that means in practice — what we collect, what we don't, and why the answer to most of those questions is "very little" or "nothing."

01

What Skeyne is

Skeyne is a private messaging app for exactly two people. It is invite-only. There are no public profiles, no social feeds, and no network of users your data is part of. The app exists for one relationship, and everything about how it handles your data reflects that.

Skeyne is developed and operated by a solo founder based in India. We are a small product, and we take the responsibility of holding your data accordingly seriously.

02

What stays on your phone

The most important thing in this document: Your conversation, your memories, and your wishes are processed entirely on your device. They are never sent to our servers for analysis, training, or storage.

The app reads your messages on-device to build features like Memories and Together. This processing happens locally, using AI models that run directly on your phone. The results — your memories, your wishes, your Together canvas — live on your device.

When you enable encrypted backup, your data is sent to your own Google Drive account, encrypted before it leaves your phone. Skeyne cannot read your backup. We do not have the key.

03

What we collect

We collect the minimum necessary to run the service.

We do not collect your location. We do not collect device identifiers beyond what Firebase requires for push notifications. We do not build a profile of you for any purpose beyond making the app work.

04

What we don't do with your data

05

Third-party services

Skeyne uses a small number of third-party services to function.

We do not use analytics tools, tracking pixels, or third-party advertising SDKs of any kind.

06

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. Since most of your data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data.

For account data (email, name, authentication records), you can request deletion by emailing us at the address below, or by using our data deletion page. We will delete your account and associated server-side data within 30 days.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively. We honour all of these. Email us to exercise them.

07

Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Message relay data (delivery timestamps) is retained for 30 days, then deleted. Push notification tokens are retained until you log out or uninstall the app.

If you delete your account, we delete all server-side data associated with it within 30 days. Your on-device data and Google Drive backup are yours to manage.

08

Children

Skeyne is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

09

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you inside the app before the changes take effect. The current version and effective date are always shown at the top of this page. Continuing to use Skeyne after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

We don't anticipate frequent changes — this policy reflects the way Skeyne is designed to work, not just a legal formality.
